Contemporary Art from Poland. Artists from Lodz

"Light, body, fragments, existence, technology, human/animal, community,
the uncanny, cryptic matter, space of fear, monochrome, abstraction, Witz, silence,
worms, dirt, the beauty of the ugly, the lightness and the weight of being,
the blank...
...all of these and many more in the works of artists form Lodz, Poland".
The lecture will focus on the art of the younger generation of artists from Lodz, Poland. They use a variety of contemporary artistic media and strategies. The themes they are interested in range from existential issues, the uncanny and the borders that define the human being, through
postconceptual art issues, to aesthetic, symbolical and social aspects of their local context. The presentation will feature photos of the artists'works as well as some video excerpts.
