sakura

Inspired by the Japanese cherry blossom and traditional costumes, “Sakura” is a “sustainable” project that grew out of a collaboration with the textile designer Juliane Schäfer.

All parts of the cherry are used in the fabric’s creation: the juice, blossoms and leaves for the dye, with the cherry pits worked in between layers of natural fibers such as linen and silk for a three-dimensional effect.

The aim was to produce the greatest possible contrast between the materials and fashion an elegant evening gown from a completely natural product.
