PARALLELE PROZESSE [Sound Installation] - Friedrich Andreoni

“The plow wounds the earth, which recomposes upon its passage. In the same way, a ship cuts through calm waters. But the waters return, calm and composed again because nature is sovereign.”

Friedrich Andreoni brings two used ship propellers, out of water. He juxtaposes their movements to investigate the transformation of space between past and present, through sound. With each rotation of the propellers, space is wounded. The invisible (re)composition of space becomes perceivable through their rhythm.

Parallel Processes is a sound installation that primarily deals with stochastic rhythms. The two propellers rest at an elevated slant and rotate at different speeds in the space. Two microphones catch the sound of their movements and amplify it live through separated speakers. The two live recordings, interact with each other in the space - which acts as a resonance box - and create a new syncopated rhythm.

Simultaneously, with each rotation, space is wounded in the propeller’s wake. The invisible (re)composition of that space is perceivable through the new syncopated rhythm.
