Important information about the current situation and the change of the study regulations:
Below you will find all the information you need to apply for the MA-design programs and the brochures for the individual subject departments. The weißensee kunsthochschule berlin is planning to switch to a 2-year Masters degree (MfA) in all four design disciplines. We will inform you here as soon as possible whether the changeover will be successful as early as winter semester 2021/22 or whether the current study and examination regulations will continue to apply.
Important note for students from weißensee
Students from weißensee school of art and design graduating during summer term 2020 and planning to apply for our MA programs in design, just send an email to Leoni Adams or Susan Lipp, in order to get activated the already exisiting useraccount in our campusmanagement system.
Unfortunately, our online application portal is not self-explanatory in all aspects! Please read carefully our application guide!

The application for the Masters program must be sent exclusively through the online application platform (Campuscore Portal) of our school. The online application platform 2020 is open from March 1 to May 15! Master programs design always begin with the winter semester in October.
Help on how to register and complete your application you find in our step-by-step-instruction, which you will find in the right column.
Please note that the deadline for submit your application is May 15. Your online-application has been completed, only if you click on the green button "submit application" (once all forms have been filled out completely).
Please inform yourself about the admission regulations before you apply for master degree.
With the application form please upload the following documents:
1 Digital portfolio as a PDF file (max. 20MB). Please note: Web links are not accepted!
External applicants also have to present the first degree project.
2 Study evidence - A certificate or a proof (transcript of records).
3 Certificate of your successfully passed first degree in your desired department or an equivalent study program (at least 180 Creditpoints/ 3 years) or the latest copies of the study documentation (certified), if you are in the final examination semester during the application procedure.
4 CV - Courses of the study, study trips, internships, employment in the fields of design/ arts, exhibitions etc.
5 Master Proposal - A written study proposal, an outlining of your master project (max. 2 pages A4).
6 APS-Certificate - Only applicants from the People‘s Republic of China and Vietnam who have achieved their first academic degree in their home country must include the original certificate confirming that the papers have been pre-checked by the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS).
7 German language certificate - At the time of application international applicants have to upload a language certificate qualification level or a confirmation of the current language course min B1/2. Please upload the recent proof you have. And please mind: the required qualification level for all Master degree programs is C1. The appropriate language certificate, for example TestDaF 4, DSH 2, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, the language proof from the UDK or Goethe-Institut (qualification level C1) has to be submitted in October at the latest.
Please note: all necessary certificates and documents must be upload in form of an officially authenticated translation in German or English.
Important informations & further procedure:
Please do not send any additional documents by post before official admission.
The examination board decides whether you will be invited for the admission interview or not. You will receive the letter of invitation to the admission interview approximately 4 - 5weeks after the deadline. The interviews will be held between end of June and middle of July, for international student skype-interviews are also possible. If you pass this interview successfully we request your full original application documents for admission at the Berlin Weissensee Art Academy.
On the basis of your artistic works (portfolio), your master proposal, your previous studies and also the interview, the examination board decides whether you will be admitted.
Fine Art study programs
The Fine Arts programs (Painting, Sculpture and Stage & Costume) at weissensee school of art are diploma degree programs and have a duration of 5 years. We do not have Masters programs in Fine Arts. If you wish to continue your studies at weissensee, it is possible to apply as a transfer student (Hochschulwechsel) and if you are accepted, you will be placed in a higher semester. Tuition fees are not charged. There is a contribution of about 300€ per Semester, administration fee, social contribution, ASTA and the semester ticket for public transport in Berlin (ABC).
