An application to change university is possible again from May 1 - 31. 2024 (start of studies October 2024 for winter semester 24/25)!

Below you will find all the information you need to apply as a transfer student for all BA-Design and Fine-Arts programs as well as the brochures for the different study programs.

 

 


Admission requirements and application process for transfer students

If you have studied or already completed at least 2 semesters (recommended are at least 2 years of study) at another artistic or scientific university, college or university of applied sciences in the relevant subject area, then you have the opportunity to continue your studies in this department at the weißensee kunsthochschule berlin.

Transfer students must always take part in an admission procedure at the weißensee kunsthochschule berlin. The admission committee of the department decides on the admission as well as on the placement in the relevant semester: on the basis of the artistic qualification (portfolio), the presentation interview as well as the previous study and examination grades.



ONLINE-APPLICATION

To apply for a study place as a university transfer student, please only use the online application procedure, which will be open again from May 1, 2024 (study start Oktober): -

The online application portal for university transfer is open twice a year: For the winter semester from May 1 - 31 and for the summer semester from Dec 1 - Jan 6.
 


With the application form please upload the following documents as PDF-files:

Digital portfolio as a PDF file (max. 20MB). Please note: Web links are not accepted!

CV
Courses of the study, study trips, internships, employment in the fields of design/ arts, exhibitions etc.

Study evidence
A certificate or a proof (transcript of records) of having completed at least two semesters in your desired department or an equivalent study program or previous studies or diplomas and a confirmation of enrollment if you are matriculated.

APS-Certificate
Only applicants from the People's Republic of China ,Vietnam and India who have studied in their home countries must include the certificate confirming that the papers have been pre-checked by the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS).

5 Proof of sufficient German language skills for international applicants
At the time of application,  at least one language certificate corresponding to the completed qualification level B1 must be submitted for all degree programmes.
In the case of a positive decision, the examination certificate should be submitted for admission in April: For the design courses for example Testdaf 4, DSH 2, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, DSD II, the C1 examination certificate of the Goethe-Institut in the design study programs and Fine Arts/ Stage and costume;
For the Fine Arts programs Painting and Sculpture for example telc B2, Testdaf 3, DSH 1, the B2 examination certificate of the Goethe-Institut. At the latest at the beginning of your studies.

Please be sure to observe the application deadlines listed above, as the application portal is only open for university transfer applications during this period!

Study Programs

All design departments (Visual Communication, Product-, Fashion and Textil & Material Design) are offered as a 4-years Bachelor and a 1-year Master modularised program. The regular duration of study is 8 semesters, 240 ECTS-credits (Bachelor) and 4 semesters, 120 ECTS-credits (Master of Arts).
The Fine Arts Diploma programmes (Painting, Sculpture and Stage/Costumedesign) comprise a standard period of study of ten semesters that are completed with a final "Diplom" exam (300 ECTS-credits) and it is equivalent to a Master Degree.
