The focus of this class is on the 2000 year old technique of mold-blowing, to investigate the properties of glass and research concepts involving surfaces, transparency and translucency, light and shadow, and negative spaces. Students will learn various methods of making molds with plaster and other materials, and learn to assist the gaffer in blowing glass into the molds. We will also teach the basics on how to cut and polish glass – cold working techniques.

The class will be taught on Wednesdays from 11:00 to 10:00, for 4 weeks. Students are invited to submit a project proposal for consideration (due on Nov 8th) to remain in the class until the end of the semester.
Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes that you wont mind if it becomes covered in plaster!
