Registration for the Artistic Entrance Exam 2025 for the Bachelor's and Diploma degree programs is only possible via our online application portal. The exact application period (in November) is currently being planned. These will be published on the website as soon as they have been finalized.

We recommend that you submit your application as early as possible within the application deadline so that you can clarify any questions with the student advisory service promptly.
 


Study programs at weissensee art academy berlin

The design departments: Fashion Design, Product Design, Textile and Material Design & Visual Communication offer an 8-semester Bachelor's degree (240 ECTS), after which you can apply for the two-year Master's degree (120 ECTS). The Fine Arts programs with courses of study in: Painting, Sculpture, and Stage and Costume Design cover a standard study period of ten semesters and you graduate with a diploma (300CP). All undergraduate study programs start with the one-year art and design foundation course.


1. Step: ONLINE-REGISTRATION for artistic entrance exam

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • The application is not complete until you have clicked the green "Submit application" button (appears on the right after all forms have been completed). You will not receive a confirmation message or email about the submission of your application. But once the status of your application is "formal check", you know the application has been submitted!!
     
  • At this time of application no documents such as certificates are required. Therefore, please do not send any documents by mail or post. Only after passing the aptitude test will documents be requested for admission in March. You can submit proof of your pre-study internship until the beginning of your studies.
     
  • After successful online registration for the entrance exam, you will receive the link to the upload portal shortly after the deadline, as well as all necessary instructions for digital portfolio submission via Campuscore. A small artistic-practical homework assignment may be set with the invitation.

  • After digital portfolio review by the admission committee of the department, you will receive notification 2 weeks after the portfolio submission deadline whether you are shortlisted to participate in the entrance examination (17.02.-21.02.2025).
     

Further steps to the APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Step 2: Submit the digital or analog portfolio with your own artistic work

After successful registration you will receive the link to the upload portal as well as all necessary instructions for the portfolio via the application portal Campuscore. The deadline for portfolio submission will be beginning of January, the exact date will be announced here by 1.11. as well as in the invitation letter.

Step 3: Artistic Admission test

The entrance examinations will take place here on site in mid-February (17.02.-21.02.2025). The exact dates and times will be announced in the invitation letter. ONLY if you pass the portfolio examination will you receive an invitation to the artistic entrance examination. Here you will be given artistic tasks and have an interview with the admissions committee.

Step 4: Admission to study

The application form and instructions for admission to studies will be sent to the applicants concerned with the notification of the passed entrance examination via the online portal. The submission of all required documents in the original, such as the secondary school certificate, takes place only after passing the entrance examination from 01 March - 31  March.

The positive result of artistic admission test is valid for two years. If you fail, you may reapply next year.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
 

If you pass the admission test successfully you are allowed/invited to apply for admission at the Berlin Weissensee Art Academy, if you comply with all formalities:

1. proof of a general higher education entrance qualification for the Bachelor's degree courses; applicants without a high school diploma can also be admitted to the course if they can prove a special artistic talent in the entrance examination. The secondary school leaving certificate is sufficient for the degree courses in Fine Arts (Painting, Sculpture and Stage Design). 

2. artistic aptitude for the chosen department ( will be determined in the entrance examination).

3. proof of a pre-study internship in a field relevant to the course (6-8 weeks) is required for the BA Fashion Design course, at the latest by the start of the course.

4. proof of sufficient German language skills for international applicants for admission in April, at the latest by the start of studies in mid-October. Language level A2 or higher is sufficient for online registration. (An exception applies to native speakers and graduates of a German school or university degree)

For the design courses and stage and costume design:
For example Testdaf 4, DSH 2, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, DSD II, the C1 examination certificate of the Goethe Institute ;
For fine arts / painting and sculpture: for example telc B2, Testdaf 3, DSH 1, the B2 examination certificate of the Goethe Institute.

Fees

To enrol at weißensee school of art every student has to pay a fee of 295,49 €, This payment is due every semester (every half year) you study with us.

The fee includes the ticket for the local transport in Germany. No tuition fees are required for undergraduate programs!
